My first podcast for the new year is going to be on the state of “Christian” music, which I think is something of a misnomer. Often people will slap the label “Christian” on some product to draw the devout consumer when the reality is that its a product that would be considered second rate in the larger world. More on some of the best sources out there on the net.
However, this morning as the rest of the house sleeps this New Year’s morning, I’m watching the sunrise listing to one of my favorite streaming radio stations, 101.5 The Point out of Tampa, FL. A mostly classic 80s format, it just reeks of my high school and college years and you can nearly feel the sunshine in the playlist.
The featured artist this month? The Police!
The featured video? Personal Jesus by Depeche Mode. Great song, excellent cover done later by Johnny Cash, and certainly a better song than some of the Christian contemporary stuff floating out there since the 80s.
