Come gather ’round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You’ll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin’
Then you better start swimmin’
Or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’.
Now the truth can be told. Part of the reason my podcasting fell of in the past few months was that I was involved in interviewing at a new church in Chicago that has now called me to be their new senior pastor. Very cool. People there listen and like the podcast, they are open to my kind of creativity (so far 🙂 ), and seems to be a real God thing.
So, while I will try and get a podcast out at least every other week, moving plans are now underway to get me out there by the beginning of April and the family there the beginning of June after school is out. Lots of changes, lots of things that my wife is mandating I do before I head to the Windy City.
What can I say – its sad to leave here, the new opportunities are exciting. Times are a changin’ and hey, I’m on a mission from God.
Congrats! Best wishes in the Windy City. I hope you get to know the guys in the Communication Office there at the ELCA…..they are great folks!
What?! Leaving Ohio?!!
Actually Ohio is a great exporter of talented people. It’s one of our main commodities and a primary concern regarding the Ohio trade deficit.
Good luck! I’ll look for you in the Oprah studio audience…
Mark
Congrats… I believe you will touch many in this new place. I too, am looking at a move. I’m checking out a place near Detroit in about a week. Though I’m not enthused about the temp change. I like the sunny sunshine state. Prayers for a smooth transition.

Oprah? I don’t know about that one. Maybe a Bears game with black and orange body paint?
Nah.
Thanks for the encouragement.
Hey Tom!! Met you at the NW ohio synod retreat–yaknow the only young guy that wanted a copy of your CD. Well I am done with seminary and at the end of a CPE residency to be on the borderline of ministry. everyone thinks i am a lil different i see you as a good role model for making it work. wish you well on your road walking alone with Christ. I did Blues Brothers for a didactic so i liked the mission from God quote. Blaire Smith
Tom,
I made it to sunny Florida last week. What are you thinking???? For that matter, what is Dennis (above) thinking? I just left the Detroit area. He can have my spot. Chicago would be a great place if it were just further South. Are you sure you want to be a Senior Pastor – boring administrative stuff. Best wishes for God’s blessings on your transition. Maybe I’ll see you when you come down for the TLG in 2007
Wow! Am I glad you’re moving to Chi-Town. This is a great thing. Almost as exciting as the Bears getting a good quarterback, and if that would happen, then all would be well in the Windy City. It’s been 20 years since anything this exciting happened here. Hey, the White Sox ARE world champions, the Bears had their heyday, the Bulls reigned for awhile, The Blackhawks … Let’s not talk about that, and we don’t want the Cubs to take a world series because then Hell would freeze over and the world as we know it would come to an end. Yeh Tom, this is a good thing. I’ll even help you move.
